Surface-discharging yarns (ESD) made of carbon prevent the electrostatic charging of textiles. Polyester and polyamide blended yarns that are twisted or air-textured with carbon are used in surgical and cleanroom clothing as well as in mite-proof and blood-proof fabrics such as allergy pillows and upholstery fabrics.
